Kevin,
PFD stands for Potential Flight Distance. It is defined at skysight.io as “Distance a glider might be expected to fly, taking off at first thermals and landing at last, assuming MacCready theory in high conditions and slower in weak, varied according to the pilot factor. ?s indicate model uncertainty with increasing size. Defaults to 18m Ventus 45kg/sqm, set your performance relative to this in Settings.” Which is a bit of a mouth full 😊. Basically, you can use it as a heat map to identify geographic areas with better soaring conditions.
All layers with a S in the lower right corner of the icon require a subscription to the SkySight weather forecasting service to be functional
Cheers
Colin
