I'm thinking of sending my Oudie N IGC to Naviter for update and upgrade, but I'm concerned about custom delays and tariff costs.
  • Has anyone sent their Oudie N to Naviter for the temperature problem update, and maybe got the case upgrade, too?
  • How long did it take from the time you sent it until you got it back?
  • Is the case upgrade a good value?
  • How much was the final cost?
  • How did you send it to Naviter?
Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric,

Sent mine in Feb for a housing update and to cover to the IGC model. Here is the email they sent after I made the order for the return. I don't recall if this got any temp sensor repair. I think I also sent my second Oudie N back for a security seal failure.

- I sent them off 2/8/25 and they shipped back to me on 2/24/25. I guess it took a week to get them back but the was before a bunch of shit hit the fan with tariffs.
- The case is just fine, I don't recall what the issue with the old one was, but I figure if they are offering an upgrade there's likely a reason.
- The case only upgrade was $120 and case + IGC was $350. YMMV if you are doing something different. I'd expect in-between depending on if it's a warranty issue. I upgraded my unit so I'd expect to pay more.
- It was sent as temporary export for repair and apparently that bypassed the tariff nonsense. Presumably that still works. I would think if it's changed they would know that by now and be able to tell you.
- Naviter sends you a DHL label and I recall you can schedule a pickup. The process is very well handled by Tina in my case. Multiple emails with very explicit instructions. See below.

Best,

Andy

Hi Andy,

We have received your order for the DHL pick-up. To ensure everything goes well, please follow these three steps:

1. Pack your device carefully.
-Send only the unit. You do not need to send any other accessories
- Make sure that the unit is well packed so that it is not damaged during transport
- We recommend stuffing the box with tissue paper, bubble wrap, or at least standard paper (use whatever you have available).

2. Prepare your paperwork:
- Please print out the attached file.
- Place it on top of the package (in a sleeve if you have one - if not, DHL will provide it for you)

3. To arrange collection, please get in touch with DHL locally
-Please prepare the DHL Waybill number with which you will schedule your pick-up.
-You can call the local DHL or schedule your pick-up through their website here: https://mydhl.express.dhl/at/en/schedule-pickup.html

🚩IMPORTANT: Since you are shipping from outside the EU, we advise you to export your package as a temporary export - for repair. That way, you should have very few or no import fees to pay upon your device's return. For further inquiries about your export/import options, import duties, and other information, please contact your local customs office or DHL directly.

If you need anything else, feel free to let me know.

Your local DHL provider can also answer any questions you may have about collection.

Kind regards,

This is the note I posted to this forum on 10/23/25:

FYI: 10 days ago I sent my Oudie N IGC to Naviter in Slovenia to have the Security Flaw repaired under warranty and to have the new Housing Upgrade done (a cost of $141.00). As suggested by Naviter, I used DHL to ship the unit. A DHL shipping label was provided to me by Naviter but it did not cover the cost of shipping to Slovenia. The shipping cost was $101.00.

Naviter paid the return shipping by DHL but there was an import duty that I had to pay. Naviter valued the return shipment at $100.00. The import duty (tariff?) was $33.45 or 34% of the claimed value of the shipment.

2 years ago the Security failed and I shipped my Oudie N IGC to Naviter to have it repaired, which they did under warranty. I had to pay the shipping to Slovenia and they paid the return shipment cost. Again, these shipments were done by DHL and there were no "import duties" that I had to pay upon the return.

What do you think of the case upgrade? In any case, it does seem like the system is working OK, ignoring the additional tariff. I sent motor controller to Ilec last year for repair, and there was no import fee when it was returned.

In Aug 2025, I received a replacement wing cover from China. UPS charge me a $34.48 "border fee adjustment". I don't what value was listed on the package.

The case is dimensionally the same as the original. It now has a slightly textured surface. The on off button on the side is now slightly recessed, making it less likely to be pressed accidentally. The case upgrade includes a new battery.

hi Eric yes i got mine back already. the case is a bit nicer but i would not  bother doing it just for the case. my battery went bad and they replace that if needed as part of the case replacement. the turn around time was about 3 weeks from ship to return to usa. the main thing is i found it impossible to avoid $40 import taxes.
