Hi all! I have two meta questions for the nameko community:

1. I'm interested in triaging all the existing issues and PRs, closing the ones that are no longer relevant, and prioritizing and labeling the ones that we still want to get done. Are people open to me doing that and if so are there any preferences around how that process be run?
2. Is anyone interested in starting a Slack chat for nameko? I often find that I have questions that would be best answered in chat (though I also realize timezones are hard) and think it might also be nice for continuing to grow the community here.

Cheers,
Jesse

1. That would be awesome. I'm not sure if it's possible to grant you permissions to do this yourself (and might be complicated by the fact that the repo is owned by onefinestay, where none of the core devs work anymore) but most of the work is everything that comes before hitting the button and would be much appreciated!
2. In general i'm in favour of irc (#nameko on freenode) over something closed like slack for im. The mailing list is a better historical record, but i agree that interactive chats can be very helpful to push conversations along, and they can always be summarised in subsequent mailing list messages or otherwise

Cheers,
D

Hi Jesse,

Sorry for taking a while to get back to you on this. Responses inline.

I am absolutely in favour of this. Unfortunately neither David or I have permissions to make you a collaborator at the moment.

Your other message got caught by the moderators spam queue. I approved it but it has now disappeared for some reason. I think the time is right to move nameko so its own organisation and plan to reach out to onefinestay to request as much.

I actually created nameko.slack.com but slack rooms take a bit of hackery to make them public. We also created #nameko on freenode, but I find IRC pretty antiquated and inaccessible. As a result I'm rarely there.

My preferred solution for real-time chat is gitter.im -- it's accessible, modern, preserves history and is public. Can we call get behind that? If so I'll add a room to the GitHub page.

I'm down to give Gitter a go!

Just to follow up on this... I tried to create a Gitter room, but don't have sufficient rights in the GitHub repo.

I've written to onefinestay requesting that the repo is transferred to its own org.

In the mean time I'm making an effort to hang out in #nameko on IRC, so maybe see you there...

This is a great initiative. Nameko truly need a community behind it since the resources and examples are scarce. A chat room would be ideal to discuss experiences and real world examples and hopefully lay a foundation to more blog posts and knowledge sharing. Any progress in transferring the repo?

Yep, I'm expecting to hear from them next week.

This has happened! Nameko now lives at http://github.com/nameko/nameko.

There's also a Gitter room at https://gitter.im/nameko/Lobby

woot — way to go Matt! some sad news from my end: do to a pretty substantial shift in focus at clef, we've stopped using nameko, which has made it pretty hard for me to find the time to continue contributing :(
