I watched the video of this fool from Canada, and I learned that the NIGERIA POLICE have a funny way of arresting people .... THEY GO FOR THE CAP FIRST, ARREST THE CAP, THEN START DRAGGING THE WEARER OF THE CAP INTO THE WAITING BLACK MARIA.

POLICE everywhere must learn from the NIGERIA POLICE.

REMOVING THE CAP INSTANTLY ZIPS UP THE MOUTH.

Suddenly, the From-Canada-With-Love guy, whose mouth was doing WATAH-WATAH-WATAH like a grinding machine before, became dazed.

I hope he is not in Nigeria REPRESENTING Nigerians in Canada.

A video of him being grabbed and hit by the police while he was speaking to the Press has been shared online.

I agree with the first line above but disagree with the second.

Nigeria is no more evil than the USA or Canada is--if by evil

you mean man's inability to have feelings for and care for the less privileged

and those suffering from poverty, diseases etc.

Notwithstanding the pervasive poverty and high level of insecurity all over Nigeria, 

you'll still find a nation

where the poorest people who are not sure where dinner their would come from

I agree with your decision not to go Nigeria to protest

against or in favor of any national or international issue

in Nigeria during these unusual times. Covid19 and its 

draconian safety protocols for international travel and the 

ongoing serious security issues throughout Nigeria make such travels

unnecessary.

Travels to Nigeria at this time should be reserved only for emergent family related

 purposes only and for those other family matters on which one's physical presence

 is essential.

  

I ask myself--even on the most important family matters requiring my presence

in Nigeria this question:

Can the event (the music) go on without me alive or dead and would  i be able accept

the feeling of I regret and disappointment for not being there?

 

The answer is probably YES  for 99.9999% of the events  --especially now that

we have Skype, ZOOM and Teams.

If the answer is yes which it is most of the time--I would sit down jejelly down  here in Toronto

--where it is already 

becoming cold especially in the evenings and early mornings even though Nigeria

is where I would rather be family members and friends and enjoy her authentic local cuisines 

and her friendly weather especially after the rainy season

is over!

Not worth the risk and the inconvenience!

Now, Dr. Kassim thinks that since he resides in a neighboring country, Canada. He knows the USA based on what he OPINED, quoted at the start of this reply.

This right to bear arms is NOT provided for in Canada’s Constitution as well as numerous other countries laws and constitutions.

So, when Dr. Kassim vomited his INCOMPLETE characterization of the USA, he violated PUBLIC TRUST, at least amongst those who truly resides in the USA and enjoy the rights to bear arms to defend themselves and the their properties.

If you come to my house unannounced, you can indeed be shot death. It is called SELF DEFENSE.

While you are right that Canada does not have the right to bear but there is tremendous amount of registered firearms in private hands. Remember Canada is bear country where you practically must own guns for protection in certain areas. 

Australia has a huge amount of gun ownership in private hands too. Why aren’t there as much gun violence in Australia and Canada as there are in the USA?

The USA has gun violence problem. There is no other way to sugarcoat it. Something must be done to curtail it.

Dr Kassim, the above law of “standing one’s ground”, is a law I support, in fact, I live in one of such states right now. But it’s not a law in all states, only in few states possibly and mostly south of USA or mostly Republican governed states.

Anyone can own a gun as long as you weren’t barred by state laws. I have guns in NJ, bought another one in Florida during Trump’s racist tirades. Got myself loaded up, but as the days moved nearer to Jan 6th, all gun shops were out of stock by the order from DC. 

People were stocking up, if you’re an American, you can defend yourself.

The problem is, don’t stay in other people’s Lanes, mind your business.

Black, brown and white get shot violating this law, or mistakenly get shot by paranoid neighbors.

There are many Black and white neighbors strung on drugs and pills, some of them are suicidal. Now imagine such people with guns.

In NJ, I have witnessed the burial of neighbors committing suicide in Lilly-white communities because they went bankrupt, wife or husband left them, etc.  Put a gun in such suicidal hand, he can kill lots of people before killing himself.

We just hear of the Blacks more than others due to historical racial issues in US, whites are killed too.

I wished I could buy a gun in Nigeria within the laws, not bribing officials.

In Nigeria, people are dying everyday because of anarchy. The govt is not protecting them and they can’t protect themselves to have a fighting chance.

Are you comparing daily killings by Fulani terrorists to a law of few states in the mostly Southern USA?

In the US northeast where I lived for donkey years, it doesn’t work like that, though you can defend yourself with a gun, but it has be an imminent and present danger, right inside your home and not a perceived threat.

America is not a centralized country, laws are state by state. In NYC you can’t turn on red lights, but it’s neighbor state of NJ, you can turn on red as long as there is no sign telling you not to turn.

Some states execute criminals by lethal injections, some use other means according their state laws.

In Nigeria, Buhari-sope is the Law!

Nigeria is a jungle. The police would still harass and extort you even if you are armed. If you shakara too much they will shoot and nothing will come of it. 

Everyday I give thanks that I don’t live in Texas. In Texas you can’t even give someone the finger in traffic for fear they might start shooting. 

In my town police response is 60 seconds or less.

Before a burglar breaks the window glass the police would be asking him what is up?

In Nigeria, armed robbers would hold hostage and rob an entire street for more than an hour. The victims have only machetes. An unarmed people live at the mercy of the State and evil forces. How can somebody use bow and arrow and shoot people in Norway. Would he try it if he knew the victims are armed with AR 15?

I am inclined to give Cyril Anyanwu's white neighbor the benefit of the doubt

on the basis that not all white Texans (and by extension all white Americans)

 are RACIST and and are intolerant of having

African-Americans, Hispanics and other non-white Americans living

in their neighborhoods. 

If the majority or all white Americans are racists, Obama would not have served two terms as President

and Donald Trump would currently

be serving his second term in office and thinking about how he could change the constitution

to allow him to serve a third term and if ever possible for a life time.

Each time we the noble and proud peoples of African descent think, speak and write about racism in the USA and 

elsewhere in the world, we must constantly remember that we also come from countries

in which tribalism, xenophobia are rife and remain a scourge and an albatross to our individual, family and societal

One time on the gated-community website, someone posted a kind of “cease and desist”, and warned parents to warn folks in their household, that there’s someone coming to his door pressing the doorbell and scaring the daylight out of him.

He explained he’s old and living alone, but he’s fully armed.

He also posted a blurry video of a person staring through the peephole and pressing the bell and running away. That was last year.

However since he publicly warned everybody, there hasn’t been another incident on his doorsteps.

Nigeria is a jungle. The police would still harass and extort you even if you are armed. If you shakara too much they will shoot and nothing will come of it.

Dr Kassim, the above law of “standing one’s ground”, is a law I support, in fact, I live in one of such states right now. But it’s not a law in all states, only in few states possibly and mostly south of USA or mostly Republican governed states.

Anyone can own a gun as long as you weren’t barred by state laws. I have guns in NJ, bought another one in Florida during Trump’s racist tirades. Got myself loaded up, but as the days moved nearer to Jan 6th, all gun shops were out of stock by the order from DC. 

People were stocking up, if you’re an American, you can defend yourself.

There are many Black and white neighbors strung on drugs and pills, some of them are suicidal. Now imagine such people with guns.

In NJ, I have witnessed the burial of neighbors committing suicide in Lilly-white communities because they went bankrupt, wife or husband left them, etc.  Put a gun in such suicidal hand, he can kill lots of people before killing himself.

We just hear of the Blacks more than others due to historical racial issues in US, whites are killed too.

 

I wished I could buy a gun in Nigeria within the laws, not bribing officials.

In Nigeria, people are dying everyday because of anarchy. The govt is not protecting them and they can’t protect themselves to have a fighting chance.

In the US northeast where I lived for donkey years, it doesn’t work like that, though you can defend yourself with a gun, but it has be an imminent and present danger, right inside your home and not a perceived threat.

America is not a centralized country, laws are state by state. In NYC you can’t turn on red lights, but it’s neighbor state of NJ, you can turn on red as long as there is no sign telling you not to turn.

Some states execute criminals by lethal injections, some use other means according their state laws.

This is an extremely depressing account of an unprovoked killing of another young

 man who would be alive today if he was a white American.

The victim could have been any

one of us, our children, relatives, friends and colleagues.

A white man calls dispatch to report that he has just killed a man

whose car was packed in front of his drive way. 

And he gets to walk the streets for 12 more days before he turned himself

in--- only after a warrant for his arrest was belatedly issued--only to be bonded out

within 2 hrs--to continue enjoying his freedom.

Can you imagine if this was the other way around with a successful black man

killing an innocent white young man who packed in front of his tony mansion

in a rich neighbourhood? 

How many minutes would it have taken for the cops

to show up and put the homeowner in cuffs and drag him to the station?

More progressive countries around the world enact laws that prevent evil people from committing

these kinds of senseless murders.  Other countries like the USA enact laws that bring out and validate

the worst instincts among their citizens.

One can only wonder how many times this killer had hoped for an opportunity

to shoot  a black man or woman?

The  word "evil" has no utility or specificity when used to describe any specific nation or location

on earth,  

as there is no permanent heaven or hell any where in the world. We can find heaven

and hell any time of the day of the week and in any location in any country.

The only difference is in the prevalence of such occurrences. They are so rare

in most countries that they touch the conscience of the vast majority of their citizens

Two weeks later, the Ijebu man returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.

The loan officer says, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi millionaire. What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow "$5,000" ?
The Ijebu man replies: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return!!"
