Windows version - color of due date

How is the color of a tasks's entry in the "due date" column determined?

I have tasks that are labelled red in the UI even though they are due in the future.

For setting date triggers: -

Tools>Options>General Application Options>Themes and Formatting>Formatting>Date and Time Format...>Advanced (tab).

For setting colour formatting: -

Tools>Options>General Application Options>Themes and Formatting>Themes>Edit>Dates Color (tab).
