I have followed the Sciral thread with some interest and realized that
the real issue was that some of us are much more visually oriented than
others. I thought it might be helpful at this point, now that MLO is
achieving critical mass in its functional capabilities, to gather
suggestions on how we can improve the visual interface of the product.

For example, I would like to see at a glance a Sciral type display of
routine tasks and the consistency with which I am completing them. I
would also like to be able to color code the background of tasks and
group them by their root level heading in the Outline. For me another
helpful item would be a calendar like Outlook or Mozilla's Sunbird
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/screenshot.html that would
allow me to see my GTD hardscape at a glance along with the tasks from
MLO on the side.

What suggestions do you have?

I would say discuss away but skip the calendar part for now; there are
changes coming that will influence that topic.

I second everything LifeAddict said. Maybe to be implemented in the third beta release from now?

Hmmm.  I wonder what those calendar-relevant changes may be?

Curiously,

Unfortunately, this message dates back to 2005, 13 years ago, and the color of tasks according to their root level is still not done or on its way, while the calendar idea is. There really should be an option for the user to program the color of each levels, so as to make the outline more readeable, as it is done on the Android program "Outliner". I fail to understand why other users don't find this more important. Please do this, it really should not be such a hard programming task. Thanks.
