I have recently upgrade to the new version for IOS and now when on the move I enter new tasks and also email myself task that come into the "inbox" area. Now, when I have some additional time on the move I would like to process these and have them moved into other folders or existing projects. This is a critical "processing" activity and I am not sure how this can be done on the iphone quickly.

There's a request on the beta forum to bring back the feature in MLO 1 for iOS, to be able to assign a task to a new parent project. At the moment, the only way to do it is by drag-and-drop.

Hi,

OK, thanks. But for a large outline the drag and drop does not work. My preferred way of doing this would be to use a similar approach as the desktop version using the CTRL-M command. Then you can select a task from the inbox and then quickly  move the the correct "area of action" or project. (I do not like the cut-n-paste that we had in version 1.

Any other tips how to do this efficiently?

I'm seconding Mats suggestion. That would be a perfect, perfect approach to this problem. Organizing my tasks on my iPhone would be painless instead of painful as it is now. I'm in love with the new UI (amazing job guys) and the lack of this one feature is my only pain point.

How do you move a task from the inbox on the iPhone with MLO2? The implication is drag and drop similar to the Windows version, though I cannot see a way how to achieve this.

The four-way arrow at the top right activates move mode. Then use the bars on the right of the item to drag it to it's preferred location. Turn off move mod by pressing the four-way arrows again.

I'd like to see a long-press cut and paste implemented like all the other versions to go alongside this move method.

Move from task preview implemented for the next update. Copy/cut/paste with multi-select is planned.

Hi any update on this? I can't see how to get items from Inbox to a project on iOS. Many thanks.

Hello Nick,

I'm using the beta on iOS, so I hope that what I describe is in the current release:

You can move an individual item by selecting it, swiping from right and then scrolling down to the "Move Task" button.  (This button is a little hidden away here - I've suggested to Andrey that it should also be accessible by tap-and-hold on an item, then pressing on the >More button and putting it just above the "Delete Task" button.) Anyway, when you select move task it defaults to a list of projects, but you can start to type the name of any task in the search box at the top and it will offer you all the tasks which match the search term, as a potential parent.

For moving multiple items, select the ^ button on the bottom-right and then chose "Multiselect". Once you've chosen the tasks you want to move, you'll see a four-way arrow button (the move button) at the bottom left of the screen.

Hope that helps,
Stéphane

Hi Stéph

Thanks! That works. I agree it is a bit hard to find.

Still finding my way around MLO but very much enjoying the journey so far. It has potential to me my new trusted system (currently using IQTell).

Best,
Nick

Wait 'til you see the new features currently in beta test on iOS...!

I really don't know why MLO has never been a featured productivity app on the App Store - other than it only syncs with Windows and there isn't a Mac desktop version.
