Google Groups, Google +

Although I was "previously" a (long-standing) subscriber of this group, it looks like recent changes to Google Groups (Google+ ?) required that I re-subscribe and accept the new terms of the agreement before I could post a question... even though I'd done so previously without any problem for many years now.

I don't know about anybody else, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if this user group were moved to some other (Non-Google) system that I didn't feel was looking over my shoulder at all times.

I've heard it said that "If you aren't paying for the product, you *are* the product".

An open platform system where I'm not the product would go along way towards instilling trust that I'm not being mined for my content, email address, and any related searches that Google is able to cull from my machine using a number of various and sundry means.
