I run my MLO this way with many folders and it works the way I believe you're trying to achieve.
If I am correct you ONLY want to see the folder if there is an actual task that is due in it. When the tasks are all complete the tasks and the folder go away until the next time they need to be acted upon
The only way I know to make this happen is by showing hierarchy. This way there is zero recurrence on the folder itself, otherwise you end up with a folder that needs to be "checked" off which you cannot do unless it is a check box.
You can see in the attachment that for this example I have a folder named Lexus fast lane tasks which is a subfolder of lexus specific tasks, which itself is a subfolder of manufacturer recurring tasks. The recurrence on each task in the folder (no recurrence on any folder) is daily>every weekday
In this example I want the recurrence this way so if I do not do it today every day I don't do it will have an overdue counter like it shows in the picture. I have not done them in 4 days and every day they are on my screen reminding me I need to do them.
The 4TH picture shows my screen after completing the Lexus tasks. The folder and the folder tree it belonged to disappeared now until tomorrow when it will be back showing me whichever fast lane tasks that need to be completed once again for Lexus and will show me the hierarchy again when it reappears so I know what the tasks refer to.
Now maybe there are much easier / better ways to do this, I backed into this way and have used it ever since, But I prefer, even require, that I see the folders so I can use shorter task descriptions and do not need explanations in the notes section.
