If you're on Windows (depending on what is currently displayed
you might not need all of these steps)
From menu: View > Tasks View Pane (or press alt-f1)
On the left, the Views pane should appear.
At bottom of Views pane, click "Filter"
now all the filter criterion should appear (including the text filter).
At bottom of Filter section in the Views pane, click "Discard Changes."

I don't know initial issue. However, if the "lock default in this
tab" option (in the context menu, seen by right-clicking on the
tab) is not selected then, filters can be applied. Doing this (to
oneself) leads to user confusion and frustration. I have done this
to myself multiple times. (I found this option today)
