Hi all,

I've been using MLO on a Dell laptop running Windows 7 64-bit for a few months now.

I LOVE this program.  It's unquestionably the best task management program I've ever had.

I have a problem though, and that's that the program is slow.  For typical actions, like inserting a new task, or clicking in a task to edit it, the response time is 2 or more seconds.

Example:  I just clicked the red "New task" button and it took 4 seconds before the task was created.

Is this normal for MLO?  I didn't find very many posts here about this and the ones I did find were old and about other platforms.  But I find it a great hindrance, and frankly I don't think I can continue to use MLO if I can't speed it up.  Which would make me very sad :(.

Thanks for anything you can tell me!

Hi Jennifer,

No it's not normal, I've used MLO on a wide range of machines and operating systems and it's always been very fast.
In fact in comparison to other applications it's typically faster and very light, even with many tasks.

I don't think it's a typically issue either as I've not seen many complaints about this kind of thing.

I'm guessing other applications run fine?
Also how many tasks have you got?

I'm running at about 2500 and I don't notice any slow down.

Hopefully MLO support can point you as to what to check.

Hi Chris, thanks for the feedback.

I'm glad to know the system generally works fast (I only have maybe 200 tasks), I hope I can get it running that way for me!

Jennifer,

I have been working with MLO for about 5 years. 2 years ago I actually started a new file. It has built up thousands of items over that time. Up until a week or two ago it was going at lightning speed doing the usual basic things.

But last week I notice that it slowed down dramatically.

After trying a whole bunch of things, including archiving old done tasks,  and starting fresh using a backup from a few days before I noticed the problem started happening, I saw some initial success followed by disappointment when MLO reverted back to slowing down and giving me the "not responding"  error message.

I sent an email to MLO tech support and they were spectacularly fast in answering my question.

They asked me if I was using a lot of custom icons, and indeed I was using them for every single one of my tabs. They recommended that I remove them. I did remove the ones for the normal tabs. But I could not remove the ones for the pinned tabs because that would make them unidentifiable.

Since I did that  2 hours ago, my MLO has been operating at what I considered to be normal hyperdrive speed.

We'll see how things go the rest of the day and into the rest of the week. But so far that solution seems to have worked for me.

Thanks Eddie!  I only have one custom icon -- but maybe that's one too many?

Anyway it definitely sounds like I should be giving tech support a call.

Thanks again for your feedback!
