Great post. Enjoyed the clear explanation of the need and the solution.

Like you, I prefer to drop tasks into a time slot. I tried Gqueues, which has a brilliant solution for this. It synchronizes the tasks with Google Calendar (into a separate calendar). Thus, they did not need to develop a separate calendar piece of software.

On the other hand, it has only one date field, which creates the problem you mentioned about confusion with when one works on a task versus when it is due.

That,  and the fact that the web interface, though excellent, is still nowhere as frictionless to use as MLO's desktop app, has made me go back to using MLO. But I really miss the integration with Google Calendar.

I'm curious about your solution and have a question. Did you consider using Start Date instead of a context? If so, what were the drawbacks versus your method?
