What Formula Is Used for the Active Tasks List

I have some tasks that seem to be showing up higher in the list than they should.

I'll happily read some docs on the matter, if you can point me to some.

I guess the computed score is used to sort them. Tasks with higher value are at top.
If tasks have the same computed score, then they are sorted according to the place in hierarchy.

The computed score formula is described in the MLO for Windows manual.

You can customise the view to sort by whatever criteria you want. I have my active tasks list sorted by due date, most of the time.
