Hi I am in 5.0.0.3024.

For a month now I have experienced lagging of up to five secs when doing simple tasks like typing. Sometimes the application goes matte-white and the little blue "thinking" circle replaces the mouse pointer. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix?

I had the same problem when I upgraded to 5.  I just went back to 4.4.6.  They sent me a beta version of 5 after trying a few other things that is supposed to fix that problem but I never made time to try it.  I am happily using 4.4.6 until I hear everyone say the new version works better.

Hello Jakob,

What is the size of your MLO data file (*.ml)?
Some people reported that they added many hi res icons to MLO and data file is very big as a result. It takes time to save big files to the disk. Besides if you use network drive or slow drive to store *.ml file it may affect the performance. So in this case deleting unused icons from MLO will help to reduce the data file and there should not be any lags anymore.

Please let me know if the information above is helpful for your case.

Andrey.

Hi there.

I have Just bought a new surface pro six. It has exactly the same problem. I've attempted to remove the three (!) icons I had imported. But even when I press delete in the manage icon dialogue box they do not disappear. The lag I'm experiencing is quite severe and includes the all application freezing for up to 30 seconds at the time.

Can anyone help please??

Have you cleaned out old completed tasks?

Yes all of them, quite recently. No difference, the lagging is constant and often long. It really renders the software useless for the kind of brain dump input i use it for ):

I use a Surface Pro 6 and haven’t noticed any lag. How did you transfer your MLO tasks from your old computer? Did you create a new local file and sync it with the cloud, or did you copy the file? If the latter it could be a damaged file so I’d try the former.

As Andrey asked, perhaps we should start with the file size - number of tasks and file kB. Do you have a lot of linked images?

Maybe a corruption in the file? It might be worth looking at the .xml in a text editor (or one which highlights xml keywords - I think Notepad++ does that, but it might need an xml plugin) to see if you can spot the pattern of the file breaking - That happened to me once, several years ago, and I was able to see where it went wrong quite clearly when I saved as an MLO xml file and looked at it in a text editor.

Hi  Stéphane

and thank you to you and everyone else trying to help out.

Size is 257, no linked images, just three icons.

What should I be looking for in the text file? I am really not a wizz kid with this stuff, so if you could give me a hint?

Best

257 is a pretty small list, so that shouldn’t be hogging resources or running slowly.

I have to admit, I can’t remember the details of what I saw in my corrupted file. i just exported part of my current outline and looked at it in Notepad - not sure whether I’d spot an error or corruption, after all, now. On option, if you don’t have any sensitive informatikn inyour outline, would be to let the MLO support team take a look at it and check for any corruptions.

Hi Jakob,

Have you ever resolved this issue. For a while, I've been experiencing the same thing but seems to gets worst. My file is about the same size, so quite small. I taught initially I had too many hidden/completed task and implemented archiving but with no luck. The problem is present when I'm working in the "All task" view.

Thanks for sharing your solution...if you found one.
