FTP Sync issue - Host not found

Good morning

I have an issue with FTP synchronisation to a remote FTP server.

The error given is 'Socket Error # 11001. Host not found'

I have tried various combinations of host name, including ftp://ftp.hostname, ftp.hostname, just hostname by itself, putting the file name at the end of the path and/or removing it, using passive FTP and not using passive FTP, port 21 or no port number etc etc.

I cannot get the system to even acknowledge the existence of the path. I have other software that synchronises via this method so I know the details are correct.

Pleas could you advise on the correct protocol.
