I have a number of 'Projects' with tasks underneath them.
I would like to print out a filtered view in Plain List mode (turning off the hierarchy) When I turn Heirarchy to No, Plain List view, then each task is listed with its Parent Project in [Brackets].  I just want the tasks shown.

One way I have found to do this is to go to the Parent and make it NOT a project. But then I need to remember to make the Parent a Project again or it won't show up in other views.

Can I just tell MLO not to show the parent

[Project Name1 ] task name A
[Project Name2 ] task name B

I want just
task name A
task name B
task name

Ooops, the Title was supposed to say  "How NOT to 'show' parent of a task in Plain List views".
Spell check didn't save me this time.

There is a special configuration in MLO-Windows to show (or not) related project or parent for the tasks in To-Do list. You can find it here: Tools->Options->To-Do List Format. You can select what information you need and in what format.
