Is there a way to add tasks to a project without the project date being assigned to sub-tasks?

I haven't used the projects tab that much in my use of MLO but tried to use it recently. I want to assign dates to the parent folder but I don't necessarily want all new sub-tasks to be assigned the parent date. Is there a way to do this without removing the date for each sub-task manually each time? Thanks folks.

Uncheck the option "inherit parent dates" from the main project/folder and see if that helps.
