I am trying to modify To-Do Active by Project view to show All My Projects that are active as a hierarchy and see both parent/child task that are under the active project (including task in the project that are not marked "This is project", I assume it is not necessary to force user to mark each child task in a project as a project to show up in the view.

Currently under To-Do default settings when I click on "Active by Project" I see group by section "None" which shows all tasks that are not actually a project.

1. My first step was to modify the filter: Advanced - isProject = is true
2. In filter General section, I have Show Actions: Active, Show Hierarchy: Yes, Show Complete: Yes
3. I create task "My Project" and mark task "This is a project", when I go to To-Do Active by Project View I am able to see this task show up.
4. I add child task (the child task I did not mark this is project) to my parent task "My Project", when I go to To-Do Active by Project I no longer see the project "My Project" and its child tasks.
5. The only way I was able to have it show up was to modify filter General Show Actions: instead of Active to All, then I finally see "My Project" and it's child tasks. But this change does not seem correct as this now means I will see both Active and Non-Active tasks. In other words if I have some task in the project that is marked with "Hide the brand in To-Do", I will still see it.

Can someone please point me in the right direction. Do I need to mark each child task in a project as this is a project to accomplish what i am trying to do or is there means to further modify filter so that it shows me only ACTIVE tasks that are assigned to a project regardless whether the child tasks in project are marked this is project or not.

I hope I was clear enough as to what I am trying to do. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

Hi Alyona (MLO Support),

Any chance you can help above. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. I figured it would be best to post in forum in case someone else has similar question in future. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Alex

Alex,

Maybe this will help get the view that you want-
Instead of   isProject = is true,  try  ProjectName = is not empty.

Thank you Steve. Unfortunately that just pulls up all db tasks even those that are not and/or linked to project.

The part that is strange is that in To-Do section under project if I change "Show Actions" from "All" to "Active", my project disappears from view even though it has at least 1 active child task. Not sure if perhaps this is some sort of BUG in application in relation to project view and/or something else is being missed.

Hopefully Alyona sees original post and can clarify.

Also unable to get sort by computed-score to work for Workspace: To-Do --> Projects --> Active by Project view.
Tried setting up folder "My Project" which is marked as "This is a project".
Under folder are tasks to complete but non are sorted by computed-score even though under Group & Sort settings I selected Sort tasks by Computed-Score --> Descending

I was able to get SORT by Computed Score to work if I set option "Show Hierarchy" to "NO". Does this imply that if Show Hierarchy is set to YES, there is no means to have it sort tasks by computed score within the hierarchy?

After spending some time trying different settings I managed to finally get Active by Project view setup to show correctly.

I thought I would share my settings just in case someone has a similar experience in future and/or if someone has suggestions to further improve.

Workspace --> To-Do --> Active by Project
Show Actions: Active
Show Hierarchy: Yes config: Include child items and continue searching in branch after main filter match
Show Completed: Yes

Advanced Filter: (Not(Complete)) AND (ProjectName is not empty)

Group items by Project Status Descending then by Folder
Sort tasks by Computed-Score Descending

After I applied these settings I managed to address the issue that I described in initial post.

what about using the config settings right to the hierachy settings?
then just include a child filter for which childs to include.
this works like:
1- the first filter selects the items and their above hierarchy
2- the hierarchy settings child filter selects the childs to show from the items of 1-
