The radio buttons in the Brach Sync tab of my Sync Profile are greyed
out when I use “Sync to MLO Cloud on the Internet”.

Is there any way to only sync certain branches/folders? If not, this
violates a core GTD principle, the concept of Someday/Maybe projects/
tasks. If I have to sync all projects/tasks, I will have all of my
Someday/Maybe projects/tasks mixed in with my active projects/tasks
and my list will to way to large and of not use.

I would really like to purchase this product, as I like many features
about it, but, not if I can’t limit which projects/tasks sync to my
Android device, I won’t be able to.

(Note: I am on Windows XP, use a DroidX, and am using the MLO Cloud to
sync data from my laptop to my Droidx)

Does anyone know if there any way to only sync certain branches/
folders with the MLO Cloud?

Andrey, when do you plan to roll out branch sync for Cloud?

For me this is also big problem. Not only it is important missing feature, but also it is confusing - it is just grey without any explanation and so on...

1.       Create a new sync profile. Instead of “sync to cloud” configure it to sync to another file on my computer.

2.       Select branch sync to sync the one branch you need

3.       Then create another profile to sync the one-branch file to the cloud

I'm having exactly the same need (branch sync to cloud) since I'm sometimes capturing ideas and task by an old PPC and/or my BB. Unfortunately synchronzing those mobile units is a real pain since my main MLO file is just too large.

I also used Dwight's approach for some while, but it turned out to be too complicated and prone to error ... you sync for instance the inbox of your main file to a second file on your PC. Then you sync the second file to the cloud and then you can access that second file in the cloud by BB or other mobile devices. All together it then needs a lot of synching back and forth of at least two different files, which is neither elegant nor practically applicable.

What I'm using instead (for capturing ideas and taks on the fly) is "mail to cloud". Unfortunately there's no parsing avaiblable, hence even this is not a perfect solution.

To making MLO even more usable I'd suggest to (a) make parsing of mails to cloud available and (b) sync of branches to cloud.

I don’t see how that can be done with just the main file open: There's no option to specify a source file in a sync profile so during step #3, you can't select the branch file to sync to the cloud – you’re just sync’ing whatever file you're working in. So it seems you'd have to open the branch file from step #1 in a separate MLO instance, then sync to the cloud from there. Unless I'm missing something?

Anyway, I'm hoping there's some reasonably simple work-around for branch syncs because Blackberry USB sync does not work for large MLO files like mine.

Eberhard,

From what I see elsewhere on this forum I suspect that (I am not a beta user - so it really is a guess) parsing will come with mail to cloud sometime soon, for now you can click on the task in the Inbox and then Alt+Enter to parse it - not perfect, but helps a little.

Dwight,

I used your aproach of syncing a branch to a local second file. I want to have both password protected but didn't get managed the local branch sync for this use case. I got the error "cannot open password protected file". But I didn't find a way to enter the passord for the local branch sync process. What can I do?

Hi, Baddr. Unfortunately,  I've never tried passwords on MLO profiles,  so I have no advice for you.  Perhaps someone else on this forum can help,  otherwise I think that you should ask sup...@mylifeorganized.net
