I don't know anything about WINE and was wondering how easy it would be to setup MLO desktop for a current mac laptop.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Berner,

question has been asked before. My solution is: purchasing VMWare Fusion (which enables a full-blown Windows machine on your Mac without having to reboot or anything) and installing MLO on that Windows. Works like a charm for me, and enables me to use other essential Windows-only applications. Success!

I have created a standalone MLO bottle to be used on macOS Mojave using latest 5.0.2

Just decompress and move the app to Applications

Thanks a bundle Vassili, works like a charm! Have to test sync yet, but basically I can work without switching to VMWare Fusion this way, great!

Hi Vassili and all,

Alas, having trouble with the sync to cloud feature, so reversed to using MLO via VMWare Fusion - reliable, stable and hasslefree. But perhaps I am doing something wrong with the Winebottle implementation?

My particular questions are:
1. How can I use reliable sync?
2. Is it possible to import MLO files other than creating a file in Wine and syncing that with a known sync file?
3. Can MLO be updated with this particular bottle or does a new bottle have to be created?
4. Can I use URL's in the notes of a task (I do that a lot)?

It seems to me that the bottle containment is a bit too restrictive to make full use of MLO in a multi-platform use-scenario, but like I said, I may lack the knowledge to get it all working.

Tia, have a good day, Derek.

Hi

1. I see it generates an ole error, i have looked and got a discussion about that, i will try to fix this.
2. You do not need to create anything in wine or import anything, you open your file normally from anyplace at your computer, mlo from bottle has full access to your mac file system
3. Yes it can, just browse the app and replace the executable inside
4. I tried using an internet URL inside a note and it works.

OLE error 80020006
It is necessary to install the Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 6.0 SP2 in the bottle

4. I tried using an internet URL inside a note and it works.

Local links work only with Markdown style in notes. For example, Evernote links works.

Under Wine it is not possible to make synchronization settings with the calendar. But these settings are stored in the data file itself.
Set up synchronization with the calendar on a virtual machine or on a computer with Windows. Then transfer the data file to Mac. The sync works.

Hotkeys can be reconfigured inside MLO.

Hi,

Errors that found:
- In the configuration of Wine, you need to add links to the Desktop and Mac Documents
- Links to Mac applications from MLO don't work. Perhaps in the register of Wine, you can somehow register the Mac applications?
- Links to the tasks from the Mac applications don't work. Perhaps this can be solved with symlinks in Mac.
- Incorrect encoding when copying notes in Cyrillic. There are no problems with tasks headers.

Thank you!

Sorry I am done here, i dont think further integration with mac is possible without developer support.

Hi Vassili and all,

Thanks for your efforts. Perhaps the dev team can take a look at this, for now I will revert to using MLO on Macbook via VMWare Fusion.

Have a good weekend! Derek.

Oh and by the way, if you run VMWare Fusion in Unity-mode, it shows the open applications on the Mac desktop, you hardly notice that they are not native.
