I searched for similar post but with no luck. So here it is.

When I start my day I'd like to quickly pick tasks that I'd like or think or should be able to care of. A today's focus list.

Using the Starred option seemed like the way to go but whenever It deal with a recurring task, the "Starred" toggle remains as part of the task permanent setting. I feel like the Star field achieves the same thing as the Flag one. My initial taught was that the Star status would only affect only the current occurrence.

So what is the Star field used for?

How are other users dealing with focus list?

I use the star, although I don't tend to use it on my recurring tasks - I just use alarms for those.

One option might be to customise your "starred" view so that it only shows non-recurring tasks, or starred recurring tasks which are close to their due date.

Hi
I had the same issue using the default starred view.
What I did: I hide the starred recurring tasks which have a start date in the future using autoformatting rulles.
By hiding I mean: I change the task color to white. So it is still in the view but it is not disturbing me.
The advantage of this method is that you can use it without changing the view.

PS sometimes instead of coloring into white I color them in light grey and make them italic.  Thus they a slightly visible but also not disturbing.

My "Hotlist" is
...startdate today
...starred

I don't use star on recurring tasks.

I use starred to tell me it's "important". For me, that means if I'm looking at my items and debating between a couple of tasks, after I resolve Getting Thing Done priority (time, energy, context), I use the star to break ties.

This is a great idea - wish we had autoformatting on the ios apps to match
