Linking to MLO from other applications: what is possible?

I use a note app to collect information, but also to organize my projects.  Most offer some form of tasks, but, after many trials,  none are as complete as MLO.   I would like to integrate the two solutions somehow.

I know I can 'copy as URL' for tasks, and this usually works from most notes apps.
But:
1. the link opens an All Tasks tab, that not only shows all tasks but also all completed tasks.. is there a way to set the view that you get when using URL links?
2. It would be very nice if I could link to a specific workplace on MLO - eg the one I have set up for a project.  Is there any way to do that?   (because I use a hierarchy for my tasks, I can of course link to the project parent - so that works, but it's just not as smooth...

Does anyone else use MLO with a note or project management apps, and how do you manage using the two together?

Thanks

Grant

Hi, Grant. I use analog together with Evernote, mostly as a way of storing pictures that can be seen from either windows or my phone. I'm putting the picture into evernote and then putting the Evernote external link into the task. I have not had any call for linking them in the other direction where the external app links into ml. I agree that if the mlo URL was Richard it could be more useful. That might include parameters on the URL that would specify what workspace or view to bring up or possible parameters to specify how a task should be created.

I was thinking about this again today - after trying to use Tasks in Evernote so I had both my information and tasks in the same app.  Evernote´s tasks feature is very basic, and its not working on one PC, apparently due to some hardware quirk and Electron coding, so I am starting to think of moving back to using the two apps.

I now think, as you suggested @Dwight, that a link to workspace would be enough, and even ideal, as I would only be going back and forth to manage projects or lists of tasks.  I do not really need a link to a specific task, but that would be OK too, as long as you could also say what workspace to view it in.  Or both....

Is there still a place wiere we can submit ideas that the MLO team actually looks at and considers, and better yet, provides feedback on?

Grant,

I do that. I set up the link to the Evernote note(s) I need. For bigger projects, I have a "splash page" note and link to that from the main project task in MLO. I do the same for OneNote as well as i manage most of my work projects and proposals in OneNote. I even created custom icons for MLO and set the auto formatting to display those icons if there is a link in the notes field. This allows me to see, at a glance, if the task links to either Evernote or OneNote. The icons are actually very small replicas of the Evernote and Onenote icons.

Grant,

Use the following steps:
1. In evernote, open the note that contains the information you want to link to. Click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select "copy internal link".
2. In MLO, select/create the task. In the notes section, paste the link to the Evernote note.
3. to make the link work to the local note, you have to prepend "file://" to the link. The full link should look like this:
File://evernote:///view/790597/s7/5d453812-0810-43e7-b283-fa85d5ec4e40/92f56519-a548-4fff-8e49-bf3093d098c5

You can also select the web link and paste it into the MLO notes section and it will open the evernote web interface. That link looks like:

I use a text expander type app called PhraseExpress and created a shortcut "fi/" that auto creates the string "file://"  making pasting Evernote links into MLO quick.

You follow the same process basically for linking to OneNote pages, sections, paragraphs, etc.

Hope this helps.

And, darn, the think I wanted initially, a way to link to MLO tasks, from Evernote, is easy... just copy as URL and use the  ´make link´´  option in Evernote.

So, assuming you explain how to link to Evernote, I think I have what I want.
Thanks,
Grant

Hi,
just wonder if it is possible to create a link in OneNote Android to MLO Android that works both ways, and also the other way around if it is possible/easy to create link in MLO and link to OneNote?

Benny,

Not sure about being able to do it with Android OneNote.

I know you can create a link to OneNote from MLO on the desktop version.  I've never tried to create a link back to MLO from OneNote. I'll try it tomorrow and see if I can figure it out.
