Hi, Jesan. I don’t know how to do what you are asking but this is close: If you create a new workspace (tab) and collapse either or both of the properties panes, when you close MLO and later open it again the properties pane(s) will still be closed in that workspace.

Hi, Stéphane.
If I’m not mistaken, Alt-1 does what you are looking for. You might have to hit it once or twice depending on where your cursor is when you start. Alt-2 seems to reverse the effect.

[. . .]Maybe you've managed to set up some custom hotkeys to do what I was looking for (though I can't see how to do that myself)? With the standard shortcut key settings, Alt-1 toggles between the task description in the outline pane and the Notes pane. Alt-2 opens and closes the General properties group. There are various Alt-number combinations which open and close groups of properties but, to my knowledge, no keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys which collapse the properties pane to the bottom of the window (so that the Notes pane gets maximised). As far as I can see, to do that you have to click on the title bar of the properties pane.[. . .]

[. . .]Slightly annoyingly, there's no shortcut key to collapse the whole properties pane (Alt-0 only collapses the group in that pane) and leave the Notes visible.
