I realize I'm on the wrong list here. Is there an MLO list that deals with the iPad version? Is there a manual for the iPad version? The tactics and capabilities of MLO that are discussed here seem to be aimed at a different software package than the one I paid for. Yet it's the same name...

My first need is for a way to create a list of everyday tasks for, say, May 1, that shows ONLY the tasks for May 1. As I complete those tasks, I'd like to change their due date to May 2, and have them disappear until tomorrow. Is this possible with the iPad version?

Many thanks for any replies.

No, you're in the right place, Neil.  This forum deals with all versions of MLO; Windows, Android and iOS.

If you've only got the iPad version, then there are some things you won't yet be able to do. As yet, they haven't released an iPad version which implements custom filters. Andrey's told us that he's hired a new iOS app designer and they're working on the next version.  So we've just got to watch this space.

Regarding your query - It sounds like you want to create daily recurring tasks. If you select the task, click the "i" button in the top right corner and then select "More Details" (I know - too many taps needed), you'll see that "Recurrence" is one of the options.

I'd recommend getting the desktop version, by the way, and synching it with your iPad. It's not cheap, but it's worth it for what it does for my productivity.

Hello again Neil,

I see you sent a reply but it started a new discussion thread, because you replied to your digest email rather than clicking on the link to this topic and clicking on the reply button within this Google forum.

So you're a Shadowplan user, eh? So your used to using a very flexible filter. I started out with Shadowplan, before switching to Bonsai, until Palms just became too unreliable. At that point, my original plan was to do just what you're doing - switch to MLO on iPad only - but I found it was too limited in it's current version. I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops over the next few months, and have suggested a few features on the beta forum, to make it more easy to use.

At the moment, I spend most of my time on the desktop version of MLO. As a Mac user, you don't have that option. I hate to suggest a competitor's software here, but you might find OmniFocus fits your needs. It's expensive, but it has a Mac version and it gets good reviews. Having said that, I'm not sure whether even that implements custom filters on the iPad. I'd download the user manual before committing any money to it.

Acutally, I've just remembered reading that Omnifocus is quite restrictive about how you work with it. I take that to mean that they don't do custom filters. You may well be better off waiting to see what the next version of MLO for iOS brings, even though there isn't a Mac version available.

Can you Mac users run Windows programs under a Windows emulator called "Wine"? That may be another version if you need a desktop companion with custom filtering.

Bonjour Stephane:

Sorry about the change of subject line; and thanks for the suggestion to come to the forum to reply.

If I could use Wine at home to run MLO, it wouldn't help me at work, where we use PCs and aren't allowed to add ANY software. The IT folks are quite careful about security and viruses.

The Palm with Fitaly "keyboard" layout and Shadowplan was compact, powerful, flexible, and unbeatable - until the digitizer wandered, and a software issue cropped up that prevented syncing. I just backed up my Shadow on SD cards, and still use it occasionally.

I remember looking at Omnifocus and choosing not to try it. The Mac version requires a newer OS than I can run, and the iPad version wants cellular availability, which I deliberately avoided. The price didn't help their cause, either.

I will keep trying to sort out MLO, but it is not easy. Items pop up, or fail to, n unexplainable ways, and the whole things not making sense yet.

Cheers,
Neil

Hi, Neil. As Stephane mentioned, there seems to be a lot of development activity on the MLO for IOS platform. I don't think we know, yet, what sort of functionality to expect in the next release, but it seems likely that Andrey will be open to adding MLO/IOS users to the beta team. As a beta tester of MLO for Windows and Android, I can tell you that beta testers have an opportunity to influence the direction of the product in a way that makes it more usable and productive. If you have a vision of what would make MLO for IOS into a really great tool, if you are willing to spend time testing and writing up your results, and if you will spend time on the forum helping others understand how to use MLO for IOS and its new features, then you might want to consider applying for a spot on the team. The application is here.

There is the option to run MLO directly from a USB stick without any installation on the PC. This may work for you depending on the group policy restrictions applied by your workplace.

As others have said there is some activity on the iOS development side although it is slower than on Android. I think this may be due to restrictions Apple place on testing. Watch this space!

Its almost November and you really cant use the ipad to process tasks. Changing the due date doesnt resort it into its proper hierarchy in the task structure like the desktop does. It stays in the top of the list with the due date changed.  I must have the settings wrong because this is too fundamental to overlook.  Please help?
