Hi,
I'm looking at the sync for outlook. Trying to only sync my MLO Inbox with Outlook Tasks. Is this possible?

My MLO database is as follows:
Inbox
Work
 |-Project 1
 |- etc
Change Orders
Personal
Work TM

Any suggestions?

Regards-Michael G.

Hi Michael,

It is possible to Sync with Outlook, but I definitly don't like the way Outlook handles the Tasks compared to MLO.

I regulairy use sub-tasks in a task, but that is not possible in Outlook.

And one the Things GTD people will tell you.... "Use only 1 system to register your tasks"

There is an option to delete all tasks not in a particular folder.. Cannot remember exactly how it works, I but there are some comments in the forum..

The issue is I'm now using Windows Phone and there isn't a MLO client so I'm trying to make the best of it. I don't need to see all my projects, but my inbox is something I use a few times a day.

You will want to go to advanced outlook settings and there should be a way to sync with a specific view. Make sure your Inbox view is set the way you like (and that you have backups of both systems before starting, of course).

You probably want to set it so that as tasks get removed from the Inbox (like when you move them to a project tree) they are deleted from Outlook.

Oh, one more thing...it's been forever since I used Outlook sync (and don't have Outlook right now) but I remember that I defined a special context for a while to show which tasks were in Outlook and had the sync apply that context to incoming tasks, or something like that...sorry, it's all fuzzy :)

Thanks Lisa but I'm not seeing it. I tried a few different things but no luck. I'll take another look in a few days when I have more time.
