ovf2vtk conversion

I want to convert ovf to vtk file. I am trying for

Please help me through this.

Hello,

mumax3-convert has a built in vtk conversion option. Something like 

mumax3-convert -vtk="ascii" filename.ovf

should work. (Also, note that that project is no longer supported as of 2020, and they recommend you move to the 'discretisedfield' package, which is linked on that page)

Also, I tried the 'discretisedfield' package, but it didn't work. Even I tried for mumax3 convert using the above mentioned command, but I am getting some file converted to "vts" and not "vtk".

Dear Nishtha,

Vtk is the legacy format. Vts is the new format (or new at a previous time). So it is basically the same and they can be manipulated with the same tools. So there is no problem. That is enough for the standard case but the other tools are more powerful. If you want to find the files for ovf2vtk they are here not in the link you sent https://github.com/fangohr/ovf2vtk

I am interested in 3D morphology, which is why I am converting OVF files to VTK files. My 3D morphology does not appear when I use the mumax3 converter tool and go to paraview. There are many readers available. Which one should I choose?

Dear Nishtha,

Many filters will show you the 3D magnetization. For example Extract Surface, from there what you need is a paraview tutorial. If your geometry is not a cuboid, then you need extra steps.

Dear Nishtha,

I think you have renamed the vts file to vtk extension. Why have you done that? Paraview then realizes that you are trying to open a file with the wrong extension. First, one opens the file and then one applies filters that are different operations and procedures on the existing file. Extract surface or calculator are filters.
