Someone with a WordPress site running a theme called The7 and using the WPBakery Page Builder has expressed some dissatisfaction with their site and asked us to review it.

Does anyone have good or bad things to say about either this theme (The7) or this page builder (WPBakery, which was formerly Visual Composer)?

After a brief look at the site both the theme and page builder seem very problematic to us, but I'd like to double check that reaction before writing them off. Thanks for any insights you might be able to share.

Hello,
The main issue I've had with Visual Composer is the updating of the plugin. Clients will go to edit and they can't, because the plugin needs to be updated.

I have not had specific experience with The7 theme, but sometimes themes try to get real fancy and add their own customization (add their own skin and modules) to the page builder.  This is where things can get iffy, especially when a theme is abandoned and not supported any more.

I have used WP Bakery Page Builder for a few years now and love it.  It is my go to.  Outside of some initial WordPress 5.x compatibility issues, the plugin itself is incredible.  Very versatile and getting more sophisticated.  I use the backend editor which I find to be very intuitive.  Mine comes with a theme that I purchased, so it is updated if a theme update includes it.  This has generally been good and consistent with my go to theme Impreza (Impreza is amazing!).

Hope this helps.

Best!
Matt

I have one client site using The7 theme at WPBakery Page builder.

The only issue I came across was with the major 5.0 update. The builder could open up into the modules, but the modules were blank, or if there was text already in the text module, then it wasn't populating.

Once I upgraded then it worked.

And now that I think about it...it "may" have been the other way around where after I made the update, it wasn't working, and had to roll back temporarily.

Other than that - I love the theme and the builder. :)
