Hi WP peeps!  I saw this news and thought y'all might be curious:

I don't think I'll switch over to Defender quite yet, however, the lack of a firewall like this was the one thing that kept me from using that plugin previously...

Hi Barbara!  Good question.  It would be interesting to see how much traffic makes it through Cloudflare's firewall and then later gets hung up on the WP plugin firewall...

The CloudFlare (free) firewall is OWASP and other common vulnerabilities to all web apps. You can configure some custom rules to block common attack vectors / abusive bots / countries / etc. but out of the box it provides only a basic level of protection.

I don't think it handles many WP specific issues like WordFence / PatchStack / Defender do — even if so, certainly not on the same timeline.

CF can auto patch common vulnerable JS library vulnerabilities if that setting is on and the proxy is enabled.

The gist: They work quite well together… so run both (even if it’s just WordFence free).
