When I try to ssh into motioneye OS I'm getting denied: Permission denied (publickey,password,keyboard-interactive)

I have tried the password I set on the web interface. I have tried resetting that password. I have tried rebooting. Nothing works

Also, instructions and wikis on the Github page are not very useful for beginners. e.g: setting up ssh (https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneyeos/wiki/SSH-Client-On-motionEyeOS)  - where do I do this? Do I plug in a monitor and keyboard into my pi with motioneyeOS installed and do it there?

Please help. Also, no one replied to my problem about not being able to upload media to google photos.

To have ssh, if you add a file called ssh or ssh.txt to the /boot partition when first imaging, it will enable it.
Just like when you add the wpa_supplicant.conf file there enables wireless before first boot.
As to your issue with Google Photos, I haven't used that feature. I could test tomorrow. I do know
Google Drive works as expected, as I have tested it multiple times for others here, previously.

Ok, so now that I have re installed motioneyeOS I'm getting this error when I try to ssh in:

Just delete the 1st line in your known hosts file - it tells you right
there where it is located

Normal warning when you re-image and re-use an IP address. and the keys no longer match in known hosts.

When you install MotionEyeOS SSH it is enabled by default and the access data is: "User: admin", "Password: 'blank (no password)'".
If you install MotionEye on Raspbian, for example, SSH is also enabled and the access data, although via the web are the same, by SSH Raspbian now sends so they will be: "User: pi", "Password: raspberry".
Now, in either case, if you do not connect to the Raspberry by cable, to activate the Wi-Fi and to connect previously you must place the files that @StarbaseSSD indicates, that is, once the system is created in the SD enter to the / boot partition from your operating system and create the following files: "ssh" without extension and leave it empty, this lifts and configures the default access SSH. And the file "wpa: supplicant.conf" and in this you put the following data:

# /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf

ctrl_interface = DIR = / var / run / wpa_supplicant GROUP = netdev
update_config = 1

network = {
    ssid = "YourNetworkName"
    psk = "YourNetwork Password"
    priority = 1
    id_str = "YourNetworkName"
    # key_mgmt = WPA-PSK
}

Where you must replace YourNetworkName and YourNetwork Password. Once this is done and the Raspberry has started, you will have to locate the new IP on your network, you simply enter your router and go to the list of clients and it should appear there. Now use the default access data and voila, access granted.

Another trick that I do, at least with v20190911, is that I add an IP config file at the same time I add the wpa_supplicant.conf file to the freshly created SD card so I don’t have to search for the IP address.  The file name is “static_ip.conf”, and contains the following lines (this example creates a 192.168.1.100 IP address):

STATIC_IP="192.168.1.100/24"

STATIC_GN="192.168.1.1"

STATIC_DNS="8.8.8.8"

J. Gabriel Sabina Ramos thanks for your reply. When I try to ssh into my motioneyeOS pi from terminal in mac I get a prompt for a password and literally nothing works, whether I have set a motioneyeOS password or not. I tried reinstalling motioneyOS on the pi and still nothing. I have tried inputting my administrator password for my mac also - nothing.

any other suggestions?

You’ll need to use root as the user to ssh into on motioneyeos. So you will do something like:

ssh root@<ipaddress>

Obviously changing to the appropriate ipaddress. The password you will use is your motioneyeos admin password.

Dave Winstone that's it! I needed ssh root@IP

I've been trying to use ssh pi@IP - so next noob question - what's the difference, and why are there different ways to ssh?

Actually either, both work.  I use root also just because that is my habit when addressing administrator functions.
