Update on expressions of interest in a MSC online event this year, and steps needed

We currently have 18 people who have expressed interest in such an event

We need:

1. Ideas for topics - see a separate worksheet in same file

2. Ideas for best meeting technology to use - see a separate worksheet in same file

3. More information on when people will not be available - - see first worksheet in same file

4. Volunteers for a working group to help take this whole thing forward - see second worksheet in same file

Hi all

I have two questions:

1. Optimal size for the first online event?  

(a) Small to start with e.g we have 23 interested participants already. Would that be enough if they all turned up? 

(b) Try to get as many people there as possible. Perhaps 50 to 100 might turn up

2. There are around 322 items in the online MSC Bibliography. I am thinking of emailing the more relevant authors and authors of more highly cited papers, to tell them about this event. Should I do so? They may be a different (e,g more academic) constituency

Hi Rick, I have added my thoughts to the documents - hope they are clear. I would be pleased to get involved in a planning group and Swansea University could offer Zoom. 

Any thoughts on which Month to host an event?

Hi, 

With ref to the size of the event, we could aim for a very open event (2 hours) and from there drill in smaller groups divided by topic or timezone... 

Why don't we set a first virtual catch-up among all the people keen to be involved in the organisation (tab 2 - don't forget to add your name if you want to be involved in the organisation too) . I could do on the first or second week of April (eheheh- this and next week I am totally off due to travel and workshops from 7am to 9pm everyday !!!) - I could send out a doodle poll...

In terms of the date for the main event.. i guess we need to come up with a few options (not too early to allow good planning and dissemination/inviting)...

Here my initial few ideas...

Re timing of the main event, the inputs received into Tab 1 so far (7/25) show two main options{ May-June and September-October
