A gift for the Newings

Hi folks
Those on the Canberra ride greatly appreciated the assistance of Alan and Carol in the team car. Would be nice to thank them with a gift of some kind.

Perhaps Pete might chime in with a suggestion for something they might enjoy or a particular type of gift voucher they would use.

Given that I’m on the Gold Coast I’m also hoping someone local might put their hand up to drive this. I think in the past the suggestion has been in the order of a $20 contribution each.

Agreed we all really appreciate having a support car, it’s a big task that makes our day so much easier, cant thank them enough.
I'm definitely happy to contribute to the gift.

Also like to thank and congratulate all the group for all their efforts and support, like David had said in his previous email this year was a fantastic ride and the group just worked so well together, riding in a good bunch like that made things so much easier. Looking forward to next year already!!

I agree, great support on the day, a very challenging thing to do and they did a fantastic job. Especially coming into Canberra where we had to cut across traffic they were great creating a gap for us. The moral support was even better!

Agreed. I think it fair to say everyone is in - practically a tradition each year for the roadie(s) - it’s a long day and a token of our appreciation would be well received. Just need a collection point (eg bank acct #) and someone to do the buying. Sounds like you’re happy to take this on Mr Reynolds? If so, post up some transfer details and we’ll make it happen :-)

Thanks everyone for your contributions. Julie and I happened to be in the gong this weekend for a b’day bash for a friend plus catching up with kids for Mother’s Day. So I got the voucher and swung by the Newings to deliver. 

Of course it was met with protests from Alan “you shouldn’t have” “I can’t accept that” etc to which I replied “well we did” and “you have to”. Then Carol showed up and mounted similar protests.  

Of course we were invited in for a cuppa but we had to keep moving. They are truly generous and decent folk (you can see why Pete turned out OK!) and were very touched and grateful for our gift.
