Dated 15th February 2020

Venue: Hotel Eleanora – Kampala.

The meeting was attended by a number of old students and a significant number registered apologies as well. The highlights of the meeting focused on the following:

1)      Support to revamp the school performance:

In order to revamp the support to the school and ensure that all stakeholders have a shared vision on where Mvara ought to be, members resolved:

This engagement should bring together the PTA, Old Students, BoG, the Diocese, the Municipal Education Officers, Teachers, the School Administration, the Student leaders, the non-teaching staff and well-wishers. The individual stakeholders should do a SWOT analysis with a focus on what has not worked well over the past years and what needs to be done by the respective stakeholders to revamp the school.

b)      That the stakeholders meeting should be called by the Bishop and be centrally coordinated by the new school administration. The venue of the meeting should be at the school and should be date should be agreed on based on the schedule of the Bishop as soon as possible.

c)       That individual stakeholders should use this interaction to engage their respective constituents on strategies to support the school to build systems and processes for effectively running the school.

d)      That the stakeholders meeting should be regular in order to give feedback and check gaps in commitment to the issues agreed up.

2)      Re-Mobilization of members to restructure and revive MOSA

The current MOSA executive needs to be restructured and a new team brought on Board in order to revive MOSA. Members resolved:

a)      That the chairman should schedule a date for an Annual General Meeting – preferably during the Easter weekend at the school. The Agenda of the AGM should include among others; Presentation of MOSA status report, election of new Executive members and review of the MOSA constitution.

b)      That the chairman should share with members that elective positions available in the MOSA central and satellite chapters and the eligibility requirements to seek election.

c)       That the chairman should share the current MOSA constitution to members to give their feedback on what aspects of the constitution needs to be revised and presented for member’s approval during the AGM.

d)      That Chairman and coordinators of the old students affiliate groups should be fully engaged in mobilizing members towards the AGM and support towards the forth coming engagements to revive the school.

e)      That MOSA should schedule and plan activities that MOSA can engage students in; career talks, football or a motivational talk.

f)       That MOSA should build on the data base of prominent old students who can occasionally be contacted to talk to teachers, students and the school administration.

g)       That MOSA should identify a minimum of 200 old students who can commit to contribute a minimum of 10,000/= per month towards planned MOSA activities as a way of kick starting resource mobilization. Such funds need to be channeled to a MOSA account through the different options available.

Thanks and very kind regards,

Sam Ejibua

Sam
Thanks for the updates and resolutions at the meeting. I got taken away at the last minute by some emergency and missed the opportunity to attend this important meeting and glad to read some of these practical solutions as a way forward.
I trust that at the earliest possible time if the Bishops schedule could be established and an agreed date set as soon as possible for the consultations it would be spot on to deal with the immediate need to find out why Mvara is where it is from the various stakeholders.
Looking forward  to the dates.

Thank you Sam.

I will also read through and revert and I could not make it because of an earlier scheduled event.

Thank you once again.

Probably overtaken by the events surrounding the war against the current pandemic. I guess the Executive Committee shall issue notice, going forward once the situation it brought to order.

Just my thought.
