Hello, I've recently switched from the  mini to the mini ble. I am on the latest firmware and the transfer of credentials from the mini to the ble went well, with no issues.

I have been having a couple of issues. Nothing terrible, but they are frustrating. Occasionally the device seems to hang and requires a reboot to get going again. Other times, and quite often, I see the message"#003 contact Support" flash up on the screen then disappear. The most frustrating issue has been with the scroll wheel and character selection. Coming from the mini, the scroll wheel was very responsive. When I scroll on the mini, the characters scroll immediately and can be selected immediately. On the ble, this is not the case. It is a bit better with prompt animations disabled but I still experience characters not scrolling when I am scrolling or characters appearing to catch up to buffered scroll commands, and button presses not accepting, where I have to press the button twice.

Anyone else have these experiences?

Hello there!

The 003 is indicative of a Bluetooth issue.... how's your BLE connectivity?
Regarding scrolling & missed click, could you send me a quick video? Have you tried removing the silicon case? I personally feel that sometimes my big fingers get stuck on it.

I dont use bluetooth very much, but it seems to work without issue when I do. For the last couple of weeks however, I have not seen the 003 error.

I've removed the silicone case as suggested, and I think you are right, it was interfering in some ways. Removing it improved the feel/response a bit, but scroll wheel responsiveness still feels lacking in comparison to the mini, to me. I spent a little time trying to determine the cause and I think biggest contributor to my issue has to do with the physical differences between the mini's wheel and the ble's wheel. The ble's wheel is smaller in diameter than the mini and the surface of it's edge is much more smooth in comparison with the mini. The mini's wheel, being larger and rougher, seems to "catch" fingerprint ridges well, resulting in actual wheel rotations when a finger is rubbed across its surface. The ble's wheel, on the other hand, will allow the finger to slip past the surface. I think this slipping on the ble is to account for most of my "pin entry experience issues" on the ble. Other contributing factors may be the character animations and the delay experienced between pressing enter and when the next character is available to scroll. I'm going to do some more testing, and hopefully post a video.

On another note, yesterday the ble locked up while sending a password over usb requiring a hard reboot. Later it cycled through 002 messages sitting on my desk until I unplugged it before going to bed.

Thanks for taking the time to write down your conclusions :).
Regarding the 002, a very long while ago we had issues that were tracked down to USB hubs... could it be the case for you?

Have there been any firmware updates? I hate to say it, but almost every time I pick up the ble I say, "this is a POS". Because I have to mess with it to get it to work. It constantly displays, "Contact Support". Then I have to reset it, and that procedure never really seems to work (remove usb cable, long press button for 20 sec, then plug in), at minimum, I have to go through that procedure twice... The thing is plugged into my desktop pc usb port. Now that may be a usb hub internally, I dont know, but it is a port on my pc, what the heck. Then the scroll wheel is just way to sensitive or something. Coming from the mini to the ble has been a disappointment...

Just checked for updates and found a moolticute, then a ble update. Installed both and will see how she goes.

Hello,

I'm very sorry you feel this way.
Let us know if the update helps, we can replace your device if it doesn't :)

Firmware update didnt help... I am still experiencing all the issues previously listed and still calling this a POS.

If you're willing to return your device to us, we can offer you a full refund.... or would you prefer we send you another device to try to check if this is due to that mooltipass or your hardware configuration?

That is very generous of you, thank you. Concerning the lock-ups and contact support messages, I can see these issues possibly clearing up with a different device. But I am also experiencing frustration with the scroll wheel input coming from the mini. In your opinion, do you think I would have the same experience with scroll wheel input on a different device? If you think I would, then I would probably like to take you up on the refund.

As far as the scroll wheel goes I find if I move it too quickly it either doesn't scroll anywhere or even scrolls the wrong direction. Not sure if there is a software fix possible for that but I find if I am scrolling far down the list I have to force myself to take my time.

Yeah the scroll wheel is very frustrating for me, especially compared to the mini. I'll force myself to slow down and have the pin entered, then when I make the final press to enter the pin, the last digit shifts by one then enters the wrong pin. Not all the time, but enough to irritate. And that doesnt include the other issues with the scroll wheel pin digit selection, if often lags, misses detents, add detents. I wish I had the time and motivation to look into the code and see what could be done...

Could you send me a quick video demonstrating the behavior? Have you disabled the animations to allow faster pin entering?
Another customer who had a similar behavior fixed the issue by removing the silicon cover... it seems that when pressing it'd make him slide.
