Hi,

In 2007, Mojo project donated jaxws-maven-plugin to jax-ws-common, and for a few years, this was all good.

But since a few years, jaxws-maven-plugin stays unmaintained at jax-ws-common, at a state where it fails with Maven 3.1 or 3.3.
I tried to contact jax-ws-common, to see how I could contribute: I attached patches to issues, I asked for CLA signing to become committer, or any mean to improve the situation.

But there were absolutely no answer and no improvement: the plugin is dying and is causing issues to companies relying on it.

I saw there are a few forks on github: I don't want to create a personal fork.

The only viable solution I see at the moment is to take the plugin back to MojoHaus and have us update it: if someone at jax-ws-common wants to get it back later, I'll be ok if I get sufficient access to the code... (access to read the code is not sufficient: I need to be able to improve it).

Any objection?

Regards,

Hervé

Hi folks,

I have recently contacted Hervé about this for several reasons..to name the most important: locally fixed bugs I do not want to maintain at work anymore and Oracle's unwillingness to continue development.

I highly favorize this step and wouldn't give this back to java.net. They have failed once and they will fail again. Moreover, we should contact all forkers on GitHub to reintegrate their improvements into "our" canonical repo.

Hi,

I am curious whether you would need to obtain some sort of copyright release from oracle on all changes they made while the plugin was in their possession.

+1, to bring it back to MojoHaus

The license started out as Apache2 and it license did not change to after landing it at java.net

+1 from me as well. I have a few tickets filed where there has been very little (if any) activity. Currently there is a memory leak in the mojo which which should be very nice to fix.

Is there a way to import the outstanding JIRA issues to GitHub issues or are we going to just duplicate them?
Moreover, I think that it is crucial to change groupId and package names to avoid conflicts and confusion.

I suppose it needs some work, but Henri did something for Easymock about JIRA->GH:

There are 2 big issues nowadays about the codehaus shutdown and our Jira issues:

* Issues are always indexed by Google and co thus when you are trying to find something about mojo you are often landing on a 404 to the RIP codehaus Jira. I would dream to have at least a read only copy of the previous codehaus Jira to allow to find the information (and to have google indexations and co working)
* We need to find a new home for issues and I would like we do the necessary like for sources to have something homogeneous....

groupId and package name changed
and documentation published: http://www.mojohaus.org/jaxws-maven-plugin/

now ready for people to improve the plugin and fix what was not done these years...

Hervé

Hi all!

In the meantime the situation is again unsatisfying.
The last commit was more than a year ago, there a 11 open issues and 4 PRs.

There is obviously nobody responsible for that project anymore.

Any help appreciated.
