release versions-maven-plugin 2.8?

i'm interested in getting a new release of versions-maven-plugin 2.8 - last release was 1.5 years ago, and there are currently no open issues assigned to the github milestone [1]

any other open issues that should go into the release?
can I help to get it along? (i've currently only write access to mojohaus/build-helper-maven-plugin)

Hi, currently I'm working on some upgrade in the mojo-parent to get some plugins upgrades 

etc. afterwards I have planned to make a new release of versions-maven-plugin.

however: is the release of the next mojo-parent really a blocker, or is it possible to release 2.8 with the current mojo-parent?
we need a release of version-maven-plugin with it's fixes to unblock our own build chain...
i can help making the release.

asking again: we are still in dire need of a new release of the version-maven-plugin.
i think it does not hurt at all doing it with the current version of mojo-parent, there is no benefit waiting for the new release of mojo-parent for the users of the plugin.

i can help doing the release, but have no write access to the git repo (only to build-helper-maven-plugin).
