HI All
I am working in a transport simulation of an experimental setup of 1 cubic metre of laterie soil. i am simulating a central injection well injecting a tracer at 100 ml/min(0.1 l/min) at different concentration. But after Run, i am not getting head or concentration contour. The values remain constant as shown in the attachments.
Meanwhile i tried increasing the  injection rate to 1 l/min and  10 l/min and it was found that contours are appearing for 10 l/min injection. I even tried changing the project units to l/day but i am not able to see contours at low injection rate. is it because flex is insensible to low values?
How can i simulate an experimental setup with low injection and extraction rates?
please help me.
Thanking you in advance

Hi All,
The above mentioned error still persists after numerous number of trials. i tried different discretization also but not getting contours. can anyone help me out. will i be able to view contours if i try this simulation using FloPy? Any kind of suggestion from anyone would be much appreciated.
Thanking you in advance

Hi Asha,

Just a few questions:

What are your boundary conditions? What is your hydraulic gradient? What values of hydraulic conductivity and effective porosity do you have?

Regards,
Luther

Hi Luther,
Thank you for your response
I am considering no flow boundary conditions at all sides. Hence there is no hydraulic gradient. Hydraulic conductivity is 0.000035m/s and effective porosity 0.4.

Well, based on what I know, if the gradient is zero, then the velocity is zero. Transport can't occur without a velocity. You need to have some flow coming in and some flow going out in order to see head and concentration contours.

Hi,
That is not true completely.  Because since  I am giving injection the head would be changing. And I have also given diffusion coefficient.  Expecting a diffusion dominant model.

Hi,

When you do a color plot of the heads and concentration do you see any values when you move the cursor over the grid??
Check your contour plot interval to have more contour lines. Also try logarithmic plot.
If you have very high hydraulic conductivity then you will hardly see any effect of injection (ofcourse depends upon the magnitude) on head values.
High hydraulic conductivity value leads to an advection dominated transport and might be the reason why you dont see either enough head or concentration contours.
Also check if the model ran successfully.

  Hello
I need Madflow codes to run it in the Python environment to simulate groundwater heads and water budgets. Please guide me.
