Hi,

I need to calculate the groundwater velocities for each layer and plot them. Do you know how to do this using the output from model muse?

Thanks in advance,
Konstantina

I don't think you can do this with ModelMuse, but you can do it with FloPy using a function called plot_discharge or similar.

I think MODFLOW 6 plots them in the output file.

Velocities are stored on the cbc files. This is tutorial about how to access this data and plot in Python:

Velocity can not be calculated without also specifying the porosity.

If you need to plot groundwater flow vectors and velocity, you might consider particle tracking with MODPATH. As Richard points out you will need to specify the effective porosity as this will impact your flow velocity calculation.
