I have to seriously thank you guys for building a flashcard application that lets me organise my knowledge properly.

Hierarchical tags are clearly the way to go. I don't know why competing apps waste so much time arguing about it.

You type them in the tags field in the edit dialog, separated by commas. Use colons to separate levels of the hierarchy, like a::b.

Pick which cards to learn in the deactivate cards dialog.
