How to rename the database on a desktop to allow synching with a laptop?

A few years ago, the hard drive crashed on my Mnemosyne and I lost my card database.  The good news is that I managed to recover the data (except for the last a few days) from a backup and I have been happily using it on my new computer ever since.

The problem is that I have never been able to synch the desktop version with my laptop.  Looking forward, I would like to do so I can keep up my studies when my family goes on long trips.

When you open Mnemosyne on the laptop, it says "default" at the top.
When you open Mnemosyne on the desktop, it says "default-2012206-224734" at the top.

I suspect that I need to rename the version of Mnemosyne on the desktop in order to synch with the laptop.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Wow!  That seems ridiculously easy.

If I rename the Mnemosyne database on the desktop, do you think that I will now be able to sync it with the laptop?

Please note that the laptop also has some of my son's cards.  These cards should have different Tag names.  Presumably, I will need to double check that he does not have any categories with identical Tag names as the desktop.

Thanks

Hi,

For sync, the two databases should indeed have the same name. Also, for the very first sync, at least one of the databases needs to be empty.

So, if your son has separate parts that should not be part of the sync, use 'save as' to save that database to a different one.
