Hi,

in Mnemosyne 2.0, is there a way to

1) prevent the number keys from having any effect while the answer is not yet showing?

2) prevent the space bar from having any effect while the answer *is* showing?

Both would help me prevent skipping/scoring cards by accidentally hitting keys.

Cheers,
Kilian

There is currently no such function, a better idea would perhas be to undo the last grade.
That idea is already on uservoie, or you may submit submit you own idea:

BTW, the reason these keys behave as they do now is to allow you to
reveal/review your cards with minimum travel accross the keyboard.

Cheers,

I don't quite understand this point.

Is it intentional that you can grade your answer without showing the right answer first?

Is it intentional that you can go to the next card without grading the current one? If so, what grade does Mnemosyne assume in this case?

In any case, undo seems like a good idea. I've given it three votes on Uservoice.

That way, you don't have to move your finger from e.g. '4' to e.g. 'space' in order to give the 'show answer' command.

Obviously that does not yet grade the answer. It's just that all of these keys are a shortcut for 'show answer'.

Hope this helps,

Peter

Okay, that makes sense and answers my first question.

What about my second question? What happens if I hit space while the answer is showing?

As written in "startup tips" and manual [1], <enter>/<space>/<return> stand
for default action.
While the answer is showing, you can see that there is a dotted border around
the '4' button; that means '4' is the default action (hence pressing <space>
will grade the card with a '4')
