Hello,
i have a big Problem with Mnemosyne.
Whenever I try to start it up the followig error Messages appear:

Error in config
Traceback(intermost last):
File"mnemosyne\limnemosyne\configuration.pyo", line 186,
in load
EOF Error.

when i then click "OK" another message, similar to the first one but with more files appears!

I use the latest Version of Mnemosyne in Windows 8, and until now i worked without a single error!

I have already made nearly 1000 Cards and to pass my exam it's essential that i don't lose them!

I hope that outside there anyone can help me!

Hi,

My guess is that you first got this error before upgrading to the latest
version.

Delete your config file (typically a hidden file in
C:\users\margei\Application Data\Roaming\Mnemosyne\config) and try again.

In the latest version, the config file should no longer get corrupt.

Good luck!

I'm having a similar problem. Will there be any negative consequences to deleting the config file? Should I delete config.pyo or config.py?

Just 'config'. You will delete some of your preferences, but that should
be no huge catastrophe.

Cheers,

Hi,

I am having the same problem on Mac OS X. Can you please tell me where the config file is located, or how to find it?

Thanks in advance,

I'm also having the same problem. I'm not excellent with computers. Could somebody please walk me through how to deal with config file. I will be eternally grateful. Thank you. The chances of me learning Spanish and dancing salsa with a cute Colombian are in your hands.

Gracias Peter- all sorted. I just needed to do a quick tutorial on how to see hidden files. Cheers for the help. Now I can continue to keep using this excellent resource.

Sorry for the late reply, just back from holiday.

I'm don't have access to an OSX machine, but in should be in
~/Library/Mnemosyne.

Good luck!

That's an entire different problem. Please upgrade python to 2.7

(In the next release, you should be able to use 2.6 again if you really
wish).

Hi everybody,

It was not very thougtfull of me, I hadn't saved my mnemosyne cards. I deleted the config, config.pyo and config.py and now I have lost many cards... Do you have any suggestion? It would really be great!

Hi,

The config files don't contain cards, so normally you should be fine.

However, I need more info about what exactly the problem is, what messages you got, what you tried, etc.

The error message indicates that the directory where you try to save the database is not writable. Perhaps you have it on a write-protected USB drive? Also be sure to install the latest version from our website.

Hi, thanks.
It is strange because until now I didn't have that kind of problem. Is it possible the the drive became unwritable? My computer beginns to get old and this might explain my problems...

Hi Peter,

i got the following error on startup after an update by ubuntu update-manager.

I have no idea what the problem actually is. With 'mnemosyne -d anytestdir' I can startup, but after working on some cards the error appears again. Tried to reinstall etc.

Do you have a keyword or something like that for me?

Thanks a lot
Jan
