Scoring with space bar

What score does the space bar give? It's not addressed in the manual. I've heard 2 and 4, which is correct?

Space, enter and return are all shortcuts for the default value, i.e. the one with a thick border. The default depends on whether is a new/forgotten card (2) or a revision card (4).
