Hi,

First of all, thank you for continuing to develop Mnemosyne - I don't know how school would be going for me without it.

My problem is that Ubuntu crashes very often on Ubuntu 18.04 - so I ran it using the terminal, so that I could try to debug it. I got error messages straight away (there's a lot here):

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

This seems odd to me as I've never had any errors with Mnemosyne - and when I develop things on my own, I only get segmentation faults working with C.

Thanks.

This seems to suggest issue with libraries Mnemosyne is using. I suggest trying to upgrade or downgrade Pyqt.

Perhaps you can also try with Ubuntu's own Mnemosyne package.

Cheers,

Peter

Much to my dismay, Mnemosyne keeps getting buggier - here are the errors:

^^^^^^^

It looks like you have a NVIDIA graphics card and I've found several
reports on the internet describing problems with the open source graphic
driver nouveau and QT.

One workaround may be setting an environment variable before starting the
application:

QT_XCB_FORCE_SOFTWARE_OPENGL=1 mnemosyne

You could also try to use the proprietary nvidia driver for your graphics
card.

Bye, Andreas

I've observed the same problem many times. It's a problem with the open source nouveau driver for Nvidia cards, as Andreas points out. Unfortunately I've had poor experiences with this driver on two different machines, and it's both difficult to debug and apparently low priority in the Linux world.
