In Apple OSX, we have under the Mnemosyne drop down mentu a "quit (program)" button
and under the "Bestanden = File" a button in Dutch "Afsluiten" = Close in English I think.

I just needed to start a new Mnemosyne set of cards for memorizing stuff from my new job (yes thank you),
the set I just with my 9 year old to train our tables of multiplication pops up as it is the last set of cards we used.
I wanted to use "close" to close the cards and start a new stack,
but then get pointed to a "Save As" button.
I didn't expect that.
So I cancelled which results in the Mnemosyne program to quit.
After a second iteration of the process, I understand the "Save as" has to be interpreted, what to name the new stack.  Isn't it more logical to do that via the "New" button?

Hi,

If I click ‘file – exit’, Mnemosyne simply exists, I don’t get the behaviour of ‘save as’. Are you sure you can reproduce this?

With respect to ‘new’ vs ‘save as’, Mnemosyne simply follows a long convention of many other programs:

New: create a new, empty document

Save as: save the current document under a new name.

Finally, if you want to study different sets of cards, I recommend doing that using saved sets in ‘activate cards’ as opposed to in completely different databases. This makes e.g. syncing much easier.

Cheers,

Peter
