Hi all,

I began having this problem yesterday evening (I copied the error message below). It began when I opened the browser and tried to sort my carts by date (newest - oldest), which it took a few seconds to do as usual (I work with around 15k cards) but when it was done all the cards I had added right before were nowhere to be seen. I closed the browser, my daily schedule was back to what it was in the morning. I had completed my daily schedule in the afternoon.

So I shut Mnemosyne in the hope that it would all come back to normal if I restarted it and I think I then also loaded a backup from earlier that day. After a few tries, I couldn't open Mnemosyne at all and got the message.

I havn't updated Mnemosyne recently and I don't know what my vesion is... I didn't want to uninstall my version and update to the newest one before you guys told me it was the right thing to do here.

Thank a lot, any help much appreciated :)
Bye

Hi,

Please delete C:\users\weber\AppData\roaming\mnemosyne\config and update to the latest version.

Also, if you are running from an usb key, see here:

http://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/running-usb-drive

Cheers,

Peter

Hi all,

we had the same problem with the error message, then deinstalled the old mnemosyne version and installed the actual one. The problem remained. Does anyone know, what can be done here?

Cheers,
Anne & Marion

Hi,

Did you delete the config file I mentioned?

If so and you still get an error, please mail me the exact error.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Peter,
First, thank You for your great work, which has helped me a lot.
Now I too am experiencing exactly the same  problem.
And I am running 2.3.3 all the time. My data is at ...\AppData\Roaming\Mnemosyne, System is Windows 7.
At that position there is no file calles just "config" - but there are even 3 files to choose from: config.db, config.py, and config.pyo. I tried changig the name of first all three (not really deleting somethingof which  I don't have the understanding ) - and then restoring them one by one.
The problem persisted for any deletion I made.
My error message is exactly the same as above, only some of the line numbers are a little different:

Error message:

An unexpected error has occurred.
Please forward the following info to the developers:

Traceback (innermost last):
File "mnemosyne", line 191, in <module>
File "mnemosyne\libmnemosyne\_ini_.pyo", line 208, in intialise
File "mnemosyne\libmnemosyne\_ini_.pyo", line 331, in load_database
File "mnemosyne\libmnemosyne\databases\SQLite.pyo", line 374, in load

File "mnemosyne\libmnemosyne\databases\SQLite_media.pyo", line 39, in create_media_dir_if_needed
File "os.pyo", lin 150, in makedirs
File "os.pyo", line 157, in makedirs
WindowsError: [Error 5] Accès refus: u'backups' (Only in Norwegian)

I would be really thankful for Your help, for there is 9 months hard work resting within that backup....
Kind regards, Terje

Hi,

The error indicates that you don't have write access to your data directory.

Can you give the exact error once you delete config.db? (including line numbers)

Are you sure that there is no USB key involved?

Cheers,

Peter

Thank  You for quick response.
My response must wait, for some new problems arose which are too complicated to deal with during worktime.
Kind regards, Terje
