This week my old version of Mnemosyne (2016) on my 2011 MacBook Pro wouldn't load and gave this error.

So I downloaded the 2.71 version for my new MacBook Pro running Catalina.
The download worked fine and the program opened up like a new program.

I saved my previous Mnemosyne backup folder to my desktop and opened the last db backup from this folder.
Everything worked fine and all the questions (currently active) loaded properly. However, none of the media files (*.tiff, *.jpg, etc.) would load into the questions.

I tried putting all the media files into the default.db_Media folder in the library but this didn't solve the issue either.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi,

If your link reads src="foo.png" and the database is default.db, Mnemosyne looks for default.db_media/foo.png.

Cheers,

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the quick reply. I made sure I was linking to the right database.

It appears that this version of Mnemosyne does not accept .tif or .tiff files. All other file types (.gif, .jpg, .png) seem to work fine.

I tried to make new cards with TIF/TIFF files found on the internet, but the program would not let me select .tif (TIF) files.
However, .tiff (TIFF) files could be selected but they did not display in the mnemosyne cards.

This would explain why my legacy cards with TIFF files would not display.

Is this correct?

Thanks

Yes, it's possible that the library we use dropped tiff support...

Cheers,
