Hi,

I know, mnemosyne isn't designed for it, but probably you've got any ideas ...

as I have four children here with the challenge 'learning english', I've started setting up a set of cards with the vocabulary and grammar of the first chapter of the school book, tagging also used for 'general themes'.

Completed the first version => give it to the child [mobile- or web-access] => child learns [hopefully ;->] => no prob.

But ... then comes the next child, which would need the same cards (same school-book), but all cards marked as "new" - and ideally owning it's own statistic, learning progress, ...
Is there any other possibility to manage that than using different databases for each child with imported different sets (general and level-specific)? As I expect (specially the 'general sections' to change very often) I'm a little frightened of managing the different versions ;-> ...

[The filesystem assumes SQLlite as database. Is there an "API" which I could use?]

tnx & wbr
Angelika
(IMHO my first post didn't seem to work, so sorry if it did...)

Hi,

What I suggest you do is give each user a different account on your machine, so that their learning data is nicely separated.

You can export the cards you created in a ‘*.cards’ file, which you can then import in the database of your other children. This will not copy the learning process.

Cheers,

Peter

o.k., not _one_ database with four "child-users", but one master-db and four child-dbs and managing the necessary cards by ex- and import manually... *snief* - and a case for a good list with the needed cards and date of changes ... ;-)

tnx (anyway)

Hi,

There’s not really a need to manually keep a list of dates and changes: if you export a later version of the database and then reimport it in a different client, it will make the appropriate edits.

Cheers,

Peter

I too am looking for this feature.

I would like to have two users to be able to add cards to a central database but their learning data for those cards be stored on their local PC.

My friend and I are studying for the same exam and would like to add cards to one big database but keep our learning data separate.

Any idea how I could accomplish that?

Thanks in advance,
Tony

Hi,

See what I wrote below: it’s best that one of you acts as the ‘keeper’ for this central database, and then you can share updates by exporting/importing the *.cards file.

Cheers,

Peter
