How do you create folders? Ive tried giving them tags but it doesnt seem to work.

I recently downloaded Mnemosyne on Macbook Pro and I have put in about 70 or so cards so far.
However, I cant seem to separate them into different folders. I have looked at the documentation etc. but for some reason my layout is different to the ones in all the pictures/diagrams. Mine only has 5 options at the top of the app.
1. make a new card.
2, edit a card
3. delete a card
4. browse cards
5. graph

would appreciate any comments or suggestions

Instead of folders we use tags in mnemosyne.

You may add a tag hirarcy using :: dividing into subfolders

For example:

book1::chapter1

one card may also belong to several "folders", example:

book1::chapter1, litterature

I have already done that writing - japanese - in the tag field for all my kanji etc so far. But how do i set it up so only one set of words gets tested??
at the moment my japanese, and non japanese notes all get tested at the same time.

It's probably an issue with the mac build you use.

On other clients we got 'File', 'Cards' and so on in addition to the graphical buttons.

The shortcut to the (de)activate cards menu is ctrl+D

We're talking about the menu bar here, which I believe on Mac is at the very top of your screen and not in your program window. Deactivate cards is in the cards menu.

Thanks to everyone who helped I have finally figured it out.
As peter said it was at the top of the screen.
I probably should have mentioned I am quite new to Mac...
