Hello,

Been a user of Mnemosyne on and off for seven years.  Never had a problem until now.  Got a new computer, and apparently uploaded old files off of a portable hard disk only to delete them later, everything.  However, I decided to download mnemosyne again, but once I've installed, it won't start.  It sends warning signals saying the drive can't be found, check the drive information on the website, etc., but even when I look, I still don't understand.  I can't even open the base program after downloading.  It's not an old file issue, as far as I know, but the program itself.

Help please!

Hi,

First of all, make sure you download the latest version of Mnemosyne.

On your new PC (where you don’t have any data yet), first make sure that you don’t have any Mnemosyne data directory (e.g. delete C:\users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mnemosyne , which is a hidden directory). After that, verify that if you start Mnemosyne for the first time, it creates files in that directory and starts with an empty database. Then, copy all the files over from your old PC to your new PC in that location.

That should do the trick.

Cheers,

Peter
