Hi,

So I am on Ubuntu and I have a HTC Wildfire (with android 2.2.). I am trying to sync my desktop version and my phone version, but I am having problems. When push on sync, after maybe half a minute, my phone displays:

Sync failed, restoring from backup. The next sync will need to be a full sync.

and then:

Internal server error: 404 Not Found.

And my desktop, there appears a window displaying:

Dynamically creating media files

And I have left it creating for 11 hours, but nothing seems to happen.

Thank you for your help,

Simon Loewe

P.S.: Once I stopped the "dynamically creating", it crashed mnemosyne, so I had to kill it and now when I start it says unable to sync server.

Thanks,

Simon Loewe

Hi,

Make sure that you are really running the latest Memosyne version on your desktop (2.3.1).

Also make sure your latex configuration works properly, by creating a new latex card.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

I am on Mnemosyne 2.2.1. and that is the version in the Ubuntu software center for now. If I want to update, I need to do it manually?
As for latex, it certainly works, I create new latex cards every day.

Yes, you need to do it manually. There are instructions in the tar ball you can download from our website.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi,

thanks so that solved the problem, but I have a new one and a question. After the first sync everything worked fine, then I closed Mnemosyne on my phone and desktop, because I wanted to see whether what I did on the phone had transfered to the pc, and suddenly the I get the standard latex problem on the phone, where it asks you whether you have latex and dvipng installed. Just before it worked.

And the second question is how does the "back sync" work, i.e. for the pc to know what you did on the phone? Is there a certain time it takes or something you need to do?

Again thank you for your help,

Simon

There is a bug which is fixed in the development version of the desktop app, but you can work around it by checking 'check for changed media files on server' in the configure Mnemosyne option on the desktop.

Also, if you have edited config.py to have a custom latex preamble, you need to copy over that config.py to the phone as well.

Just do another sync from the phone.

Cheers,

Peter
